The one who paints but is colorblind
Let's get it out of the way: Yes, I am colorblind, and yes, I do occasionally need to ask Paulien for a bit of help
My name is Dejvi, and I painted all the pieces you see in this shop. I've always been a "less words, more visuals" kind of guy, so the blogs I write won’t be as lengthy as Paulien’s—she is the copywriter, after all. I just wanted to tell you a little bit about myself, my work, and how I see things (no pun intended).
Mom & Dejvi
29 years earlier (I'll probably update this every year)
I was born on January 29, 1995, in Berat, Albania. Three years later, in '98, my mom fled the country with only me. A year before that, civil war had broken out in Albania, and the whole country went belly up.
Her sister fled to the United States, her brother and my two cousins went to Turkey, and we went to Belgium. I recently heard my mom tell us the whole story in vivid detail, and I have a strong feeling that one day, I'll turn it into my first feature film. That’s right, I’m a filmmaker at heart!
Mom dad & Dejvi
Belgium, Antwerp
When we came to Belgium, we stayed in a one-room apartment that had a mattress, a little dresser, and a three wheeler bike. Mom always said that Dad fell in love with me first. Great move though, Dad!
After they moved in together, mom got pregnant and we welcomed my sister, Eva in the year 2000. Despite the rainy Belgian weather, I had an amazing childhood!
Fastforward 19 years
At 23, I started working at an advertising company in Brussels, and after three years, I quit to pursue a freelance career in music videos and filmmaking. I spent quite some time on music videos and met some great people along the way; as for the filmmaking part, I’m still chasing that dream. My ultimate goal is to direct movies. I’m writing my short film bit by bit, and when it all comes together, I’ll let you know.
Painting, drawing, and “writing stuff” have always been things I’ve done. I’m usually the quiet one, doodling away, and after a while, I started taking some of those doodles and putting them on bigger canvases, just for fun. I really just draw and paint from the heart, inspired by my experiences and the world around me. Colors don’t come as easily to me as they might to someone who isn’t colorblind, but I enjoy the challenge.

Oil 👏 pastels 👏 all 👏 day
I love working with oil pastels and acrylic paint. My pieces often feature bright, vibrant colors, partly because I love their simplicity and also because those are the colors I can see best. I mix in acrylics to get finer lines and add small illustration details that oil pastels alone can't achieve.
Painting helps me reach a headspace where I can calm down and let go of overthinking. It’s not as easy as it sounds; in life, we're always making decisions, sometimes second-guessing them moments later. But when you find something that quiets that part of your mind, life feels like a much better place.
The reason I’m selling my art in this shop is simple: we have a great following for our interior on Instagram, and a lot of people have asked to buy my artwork. While I’m not ready to release the original pieces, I’d love for people to enjoy my art in their homes, so I decided to create the highest quality posters of my paintings.
Thank you so much for stopping by and spending time with us. We’ll be posting these kinds of blogs regularly if you're interested. Alright, it’s 2 AM, so I'm off to bed!
love you x
